What Happens When Your Intuition Rules Your Life?

Bill Murray’s character – a disgruntled weatherman – had a problem in the movie
“Groundhog Day.” He was literally stuck doing the same day over and over and over again. Until he got it right.

What if you could get every day right? Is it possible? It is when you tap into your intuition. No day will be perfect, but your days can be a lot better when you listen to that “other person” or voice of reason living inside you.

You’ve heard the old saying, “Trust your gut.” That’s what successful people do every day. They listen to that voice of reason. That gut feeling and more often than not, they make the right decision.

Take Steve Jobs, the late Apple founder and billionaire. He once said:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma- which is living the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”

Jobs did that with his life. In fact, he told the Stanford University class of 2005 that he asked himself a simple question every morning, “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?”

If he answered that question with “no” too many days in a row, he changed something. That’s the power of being in touch with your intuition. You know when something’s not right. Not working.

Jobs had a hunch about not licensing software and hardware with his product. He had a hunch that people put value in design and experience.

Look down the road a couple of decades since the PC/Mac wars began. Who’s winning? Apple has recorded record profits even in the worst recession since the Great Depression. Why? Jobs used his intuition to innovate and ask, “What’s next?”

A device that has become known as “intuitive enough that a 2-year-old can use it,” the iPad was predicted to be a failure. Now, it’s a must-have device and has a loyal fanbase.  Jobs believed that when he developed it.
