Growth or Entertainment? (May’s Energy Is Your Green Light)

Entertainment is a wonderful thing. Music, sound, visions, art, textures, sensations, smells, and tastes help us cope with challenges and savor the good moments as we move through life.

Sound healing can be entertaining—but the primary focus is growth: expanding consciousness, healing and balancing our inner world, and developing the abilities we already carry.

Here’s the tricky part: growthful practices aren’t always “fun” in the moment. At Yoga of the Mind, we meditate for the benefits in daily life—not for any particular experience during meditation. Healing our shadow is a vital part of growth, and it can include consciously and thoughtfully unlocking the energy of repressed emotions.

It’s a bit like fasting. When people fast, they often feel an upsurge of energy because inner resources aren’t being consumed by digestion and are more available for healing. At times, this involves temporarily feeling “worse” as the toxins clear. After that phase, people often report feeling better than ever.

Another difference between growth and entertainment is that we often seek out new entertainment experiences. Most of us don’t watch the same movie a hundred times.

With growth, persistence matters. Repeating a practice can be exactly what helps you receive the full benefit of the healing.

And honestly, May’s astrology supports this. After a heavy stretch, the energy eases and starts moving again—new ideas, fresh conversations, and a quiet inner nudge that something is ready to update. Don’t force clarity. Stay consistent, and let the next right step reveal itself.

I often joke that I’ve never taught the same class twice. Part of being an intuitive healer and teacher is reading the room and channeling what will be most beneficial for the people who show up.

So if you feel called, don’t be afraid to take a class more than once. You may meet the same practice—but you’ll meet yourself on a whole new level.
